Kristin (A.K.A. Sunja)

Konnichiwa!  You have stumbled upon Traveling Sunja, a blog and travel journal detailing my experiences while living in Japan.

My name is Kristin (a.k.a. Sunja),and I am a junior at a private college in Ohio.  I am a Digital Media Design major, with a true interest in web-design, video production, journalism, art, video games, music, and computer programming.  This spring I am leaving to study abroad in Japan for four months.  I am studying at a university in southern Honshu, where I am taking classes to further my understanding of the Japanese language and of its culture.

With the addition of a video podcast, photos, and weekly written updates, this blog’s purpose is to educate friends and family back in the United States what it’s really like to live in such a foreign country.  I hope to keep you updated on my life, while also providing a first-hand resource to those who may be thinking about one day visiting such a beautiful country, with such an amazing history.

In particular, my goal is to document what I learn of Japanese language and culture.  I’m especially interested in Japanese media and its differences and similarities to media in the west.  If you notice a trend in my writing around this topic, do not be surprised.

If you have any questions or comments, or if you have any topic you would like me to explore in Japan and include in one of my podcasts or entries, please feel free to email me personally at sunja(at)scog-comic(dot)com.  You can also leave me messages if you register here on my blog.

P.S. To those of you back home, a way you can reach me vocally is through Skype. Contact me for further information.
